The Lodge School in the parish of St. John is one of the oldest schools in the Western Hemisphere, with origins traced to 1745. Set on a scenic ridge overlooking the east coast Atlantic, the school has a proud academic and sporting tradition and has produced many prominent Bajan sportsmen, scholars and professionals. Today it is a co-educational secondary school preparing students for CSEC and CAPE examinations, and its historic chapel, grounds and dramatic east-coast setting make it one of the most distinctive school campuses on the island.
