Barbados Independence Day

National Holiday · November 30

Rating: 4.7 / 5

Barbados Independence Day, celebrated on 30 November, marks the country's independence from the United Kingdom in 1966. The day is one of the proudest on the Bajan calendar, with an Independence Parade and 21-gun salute at National Heroes Square in Bridgetown, fly-pasts, cultural shows, church services and community fêtes across the island. Official ceremonies now honour Barbados as a republic, following the transition on 30 November 2021. Streets fill with the ultramarine-and-gold national flag and the song 'In Plenty and In Time of Need'.
