Broad Street is the beating heart of shopping in Bridgetown and the main duty-free strip on the island. The wide thoroughfare runs through the UNESCO-listed historic centre and is lined with colonial-era facades housing department stores, jewellers, electronics shops, fashion outlets, pharmacies and Bajan brands. Duty-free concessions on watches, gold, rum and fragrances bring cruise passengers and residents alike, while snowcone carts, coconut vendors and the flow of office workers at lunchtime give the street its unmistakable Caribbean capital energy. Shops mostly open Monday to Saturday.
