Rating: 4.5 / 5

The Barbados Boxing Association is the national governing body for amateur boxing on the island, affiliated to World Boxing and sending Bajan fighters to Caribbean, Pan American and Commonwealth Games competition. Training gyms in St. Michael and across the parishes run amateur programmes alongside boxing-fitness classes for non-competitors. A new generation of Bajan fighters is emerging on the regional amateur and pro circuit, and community clubs remain an important pathway for young athletes and a healthy outlet for fitness.

About sports in Barbados

Cricket is Barbados. Kensington Oval has hosted World Cup finals, and the island has produced some of cricket's greatest players including Sir Garfield Sobers and Hayley Matthews. Beyond cricket, Barbados offers horse racing at the historic Garrison Savannah, world-class surfing at Bathsheba, polo at Holders, rugby, football, and the Sol Rally — one of the biggest motorsport events in the Caribbean.
