Soup Bowl · Bathsheba

Surf Break · World-Class · East Coast

Rating: 5 / 5

The Soup Bowl at Bathsheba on Barbados' rugged east coast is one of the most revered reef breaks in the Caribbean. Consistent Atlantic swells wrap onto the shallow reef to produce hollow, fast right-handers that attract professional surfers from around the world, including visits from three-time world champion Kelly Slater. Conditions peak from September to April when the north Atlantic sends its cleanest lines. The wave is powerful and shallow, so it is strictly for experienced surfers, but the beach and its famous boulders make for stunning viewing.
